• The roof height and roof texture of the campus architecture

• A photorealistic rendering of the building, including the vegetation and topography of the rooftop

Interior design of 3000 units at an integrated green transportation and energy storage facility in the Denver metropolitan area

The Denver Metro is one of the world’s largest metropolitan areas with a high residential population. It is a port city with several commercial centers and well-known tourist destinations, which make Denver one of the most visited cities in the U.S. The City and County of Denver operates a metro transit system as a unified service called “Front Range Express.” Despite the large size of the City and County of Denver, most of the residents do not use cars for daily transportation and rely heavily on public transit as the most convenient and economical choice. In 2012, Denver initiated the Citywide Plan, which aims to reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions in the city by 20% by 2020. This office is responsible for designing a new transportation and energy storage facility in the Denver metropolitan area that will satisfy these goals.

The Current Building is situated on a 20,870-square-foot lot within Denver’s Cap Hill neighborhood. The Current Building was constructed in 1969 and is located on the property’s western boundary line. The current building is a contributing structure in the Cap Hill Residential Historic District. The Original Post Office building was constructed in 1916 and was designed by Alfred Rosenhain, a nationally recognized regional architect. The original post office was used for nearly 100 years until a major renovation was performed in 2012.

5K is known for the development of open-plan, resource efficient, high-quality green multifamily buildings. In February 2016, they designed the New American Standard luxury apartment community in southeast Denver. The new construction project is one of the first green, LEED-certified multifamily apartment buildings in the city. This new complex will consist of 118 units with a maximum of four units per floor, as opposed to typical seven-unit floor plans. These energy-efficient and sustainable multifamily apartment units have an approximate rated energy usage of only 983.3 kWh per unit per year. The community is located in a transit-rich area with an overall train hub located a 10-minute walk from the building. These neighborhood locations and the New American Standard luxury amenities will attract a diverse group of residents. The community is directly on a 10-mile bike route system.
